Photo Documentary Series: Flash Dance Mob Proposal Part One
Ray Liberto wanted to ask his long time girlfriend, Tara McNally, for her hand in marriage. So, he did what every guy does to prepare. He asked a bag piper, Army Color Guard, Drill Team, and a professionally choreographed Flash Dance Mob to help him out. No? Not your run of the mill proposal? Ray’s not your run of the mill guy, I guess. For months he prepared under the hush of the town to make all this happen on the eve of the town’s monthly First Friday event. There was nothing left to make this a more monumental occasion… except for a torrential down pour.
The day of the event rain doused the town from morning until night in varying degrees of severity that ranged from moderate soaking to side ways tropical storm chaos. This due to a side ways tropical storm chaos that infringed itself upon the east coast. Yet, despite the actual cancelation of the First Friday event, this would not stop the 300 plus spectators and celebrators from donning their best poncho and biggest umbrella and marching down to Wood street just to see it all go down.
The excitement and enthusiasm was utterly contagious and even the toughest armed forces member was enticed to get a little misty-eyed (after all who’d know the difference between the rain pelted face and tear streamed one?).
In the end, showered with rain, flowers, song, and snazzy hip hop dance moves she said, “Yes.” We had no doubt she would.
