Lux Summit Studio’s Senior Dog Coffee Table Book Now Accepting Submissions
Senior dogs have always played second fiddle to puppies. Their newer, adorable, doe-eyed counter parts of our senior canine companions steal the show time and again. Lux Summit Studio (LSS) decided to do something about it; to give senior dogs the celebration and voice they deserve.
From 2019 to 2021 LSS created a coffee table book each year called Woman’s Best Friend (WBF). This series told the stories of women’s bonds with their canine companions. The profits from the sales of each volume went to rescues Harley’s Haven (in Perkasie, Pa), Brandywine Valley SPCA (in Pennsylvania and Delaware) and Women’s Animal Center in (Bucks County, Pa). A combined total of over $25,000 has been raised and donated to these organizations.

After the success of WBF we decided to take break on that project and set our sites on celebrating and supporting senior dogs. Senior dogs are at greater risk of losing their homes in the event of changes such as the passing of their human. Sometimes lifestyle changes in the home like a move, divorce or the birth of a child lead to senior pet homelessness. Or they are viewed as an inconvenience once they lose their novelty. Yet, there are many reasons why opening a heart and home to a geriatric BFF is a great opportunity. The Animal foundation share ten great reasons to adopt a senior dog. My favorite reason is number four: There are still years of fun and love still ahead.
The gift of the senior dog is the inspiration for our forth coming coffee table book, Old Friends: How Our Senior Dogs Are Teaching Us To Live Our Best Lives.

How we view our senior canine companions shines a light on problems with how we view the act of aging. Aging is often seen as a negative experience worthy of pity. It’s easy for us to fall into thinking that witnessing aging is a constant sign post of the imminent end. We can easily lose sight of the chance to view aging as a celebration of a life well lived. The gift of a senior dog is a constant calling to presence, patience and so much more.
These gifts are the inspiration for our forth coming coffee table book, Old Friends: How Our Senior Dogs Are Teaching Us To Live Our Best Lives. The pages will be filled with photos from sessions we have with 50 senior dogs and their humans. Alongside, are stories of their resilience, joy, lessons learned and more. The profits from the sales of this edition go to Monkey’s House Senior Dog Hospice And Sanctuary.
We are currently accepting submissions for senior dogs and their humans to be featured in Old Friends.
